How to decorate your home at Easter - 15 ways to dress your table

Looking for an excuse to change up your home decor? Fancy having a play around with some fresh decor in your dining space? Now is time to bring out the pastel colors, fresh blooms, and whimsical decor to create a festive and inviting table setting for the Easter weekend. Whether you’re hosting a brunch, lunch, or dinner, dressing your table for Easter adds a touch of charm and sets the stage for a memorable gathering.

Here’s are my top fifteen ways to help you elevate your table décor this Easter:

1. Choose a Theme: Start by selecting a theme that reflects the essence of Easter. Popular themes include traditional or vintage, rustic, modern, or whimsical. Once you’ve chosen a theme, you can curate your decorations, colors, and tableware accordingly.

2. Pick a colour palette: Pastel hues are synonymous with Easter and Springtime and evoke a sense of freshness and renewal. Soft shades of pink, blue, yellow, and green are perfect for creating a vibrant and inviting tablescape. Consider incorporating white accents to add a touch of elegance and balance to the colour scheme.

3. Table Linens: Set the foundation for your table setting with crisp table linens. Opt for a tablecloth or table runner in a light, neutral color to serve as a backdrop for your Easter décor. Linens with delicate patterns such as florals, stripes, or polka dots can add visual interest without overpowering the table.

4. Runners are a great alternative to using a full tablecloth on your table. They can add a pop of color and texture without the cleaning and expense. If you layer in complementary placemats and napkins, you can easily create a ‘pulled together’ look quite simply.

5. Centerpiece: Create a stunning centerpiece that serves as the focal point of your table. I am loving the pretty Easter trees at the moment - simply hang decorative eggs, chicks, bunnies on a few branches displayed in a vase for a lovely, seasonal flourish. A fresh floral arrangement in a pastel-colored vase instantly adds beauty and charm to the table. Alternatively, you can opt for a decorative Easter basket filled with colorful eggs, spring flowers, and greenery. For a rustic touch, consider arranging a collection of decorative eggs in a nest or on a decorative tray.

6. Place Settings: Set each place at the table with care, paying attention to detail. Use dinnerware, flatware, and glassware that complement your chosen theme and color palette. Either go floral for a Spring feel or consider incorporating Easter-themed elements such as bunny-shaped plates, egg-shaped napkin rings, or pastel-colored glasses for added pops of colour.

7. Mix it up with more than one style. Bring your traditional Wedgewood china to the table along with contemporary glassware, vases or candlesticks. Dont just stick to vases to display your flowers - play around with vintage teacups, contemorary jugs, something a bit more unusual for a more interesting feature. Tie it all together in your chosen colour palette for cohesion.

8. Layer with decorative accents: Enhance the Easter ambiance with thoughtful decorative accents placed strategically throughout the table. Incorporate elements such as mini Easter figurines, decorative eggs, candles in pastel holders, or small potted plants for a touch of natural beauty. Play with items across a variety of heights to add interest and balance. Don’t forget to add a personal touch with name cards or handwritten Easter wishes for each guest.

9. Get crafty and go homemade. If you have the time or are looking for something fun and creative to do with the kids, pop along to Hobbycraft or similar and pick up some crafty bits to make your own Easter wreath, tree, bunting or centrepiece. You may choose to paint some eggs, and there are so many tips for DIY accessories online, or you’ll be able to buy a kit with instructions,

10. Lighting: Set the mood with soft, ambient lighting that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Use candles or string lights to add a soft glow to the table. Consider placing candle holders or lanterns adorned with spring motifs such as flowers or butterflies to enhance the Easter theme.

11. Gold accents bring a beautiful layer of richness and glam to an Easter brunch table setting. Invest in some brass cutlery which you can use in future gatherings - I guarantee they’ll add a touch of luxury to your tablescape.

12.Think about your chairs. How can you add interest to your dining chairs? Consider a pretty coloured bow around the backs, fresh cushions or ribbons around the legs.

13. Let the food do the talking. Arrange chocolate mini eggs in bowls, use fresh fruits to bring colour to your space. Lemons, limes, strawberries are all beautiful if arranged in pretty dishes.

14. Don't just focus on the table. Welcome your guests with a pretty Easter wreath on your front door and change up the accessories in the rest of the room. You may find some new cushions or a throw.  Add plenty of florals, seasonal bunting, pretty lamps, candles, handmade accessories in your colour palette.

15. Final touches: Before guests arrive, take a moment to ensure that every detail is in place. Pop some music on, straighten table linens, adjust centerpieces, and light candles to create a welcoming ambiance. Consider adding a finishing touch such as a small Easter-themed favour at each place setting for guests to take home as a memento of the celebration.
