Boost your home with these ways to add some wow to your walls

There’s so much you can do to add character and personality to your home, that’s a bit more unusual than a lick of paint or a roll of wallpaper. Here are a few suggestions.

Add some wooden wall panelling. Whether it’s modern squares, victorian mouldings, tongue and groove or geometric shapes, panels add architectural detail and warmth to a space. Pick Victorian or Edwardian style if you have a period house, or there are plenty of contemporary styles such as geometric or block panels for a more modern home.

Create a gallery wall with a selection of your fave photos or prints. Mix and match frames in different shapes and sizes, and add in a variety of depths for extra interest.

Use colour blocking with contrasting paint colours to highlight areas of the room - behind a piece of furniture or in a cosy corner. Take the paint up and over onto the ceiling for real impact.

Use a textured finish to cover the wall. Whether its tiles all the way up a chimney breast or exposed brick or stone, this is a long lasting way to add real impact.

Display a collection of your most exquisite and interesting objects on open shelving across the wall. This is a brilliant way to add depth and interest whilst showcasing your personality and memories through your own belongings.

Add a lick of paint to create a two tone wall. Choose a bold shade for the lower half of the wall and a paler version of the same colour, or go bold and pick a contrasting colour for the top half.
