To trend or not to trend?

I don’t really subscribe to trends in interiors, as I believe our home furnishing choices should be deeply personal rather than following the herd. However, you can’t escape the maximalist prints, panelling and boucle chairs littering our Insta feeds, and done in the right way, I think some are definitely worth experimenting with.

A desire to cocoon ourselves in our homes post pandemic, and to create a space into which we can seek refuge, and well and truly escape the outside world, are apparently the reasons behind some of the latest looks. I can buy into this!

I tell you what I am LOVING right now. It’s all about the colourful wallpaper and paint borders for me this year. Yes PLEASE! Any excuse to play with colour in a fun, playful way that’s not too invasive and overwhelming. I adore this one from Studio Atkinson. I love how it’s framing the door here. So much fun to be had!

Interior design trends cut out rugs

Cut out rugs. What a fab idea. They are a great way to break up a space and really jazz up your floor. This geometric one is awesome, from a Rum Fellow.

I always love a bit of coloured marble and there’s a fair amount of midnight blue marble effect around at the moment. This stunning vanity from Marazzi makes me so happy! It’s actually porcelain rather than marble, so super light weight and practical. Gorgeous.

Cork flooring is a great sustainable option. The super practical flooring which was all the rage in the 70s,  has been given a lovely modern twist. Cork has its own natural thermal properties so it’s a great alternative to underfloor heating. How gorgeous is this one, from Carpetright.
