Why should I hire an interior designer? How can they help me?

This is a great question and something I wanted to make super clear. Not everyone has hired a designer for their home before so let me explain why you might need my help, and what exactly I can do for you.

Inspiration

Maybe you’re stuck in a design rut? Hit a mental block? Run out of inspiration? Let me re-ignite your enthusiasm for your home and get you excited about its potential. Together let’s finish off the beautiful home you’ve been creating so you can relax and enjoy it for years to come. I’ll work with you to choose the right colour palette and help you bring your rooms to life with the texture, pattern, materials you’ll love.

Lacking time and energy? Perhaps life is just super hectic with work, the kids and family life. You simply never have the time and headspace to even start thinking about a home renovation. There are just too many decisions to be made and you need someone to take the mental load and responsibility off your plate without any costly mistakes.

Moodboards

Struggling to get your other half on board? Finding it hard to visualise? I’ll produce moodboards. 3D drawings and floor plans so you’ll know exactly how your room will look, how the colours and materials will sit together and where the furniture will go.

Design schemes

Need a push to be bolder in your design decisions? Lacking confidence in your style? I’ll suggest ideas which will give your homes an element of wow, ideas you may not have thought of before, unique features which you’ll never see elsewhere. Together we’ll create a home which speaks to you, reflects your personality and tells your story.

Space planning

Struggling to figure out the best furniture layout for your space? I will recommend ways to best optimise space, ensure room flow, create storage solutions, and bring it all to life via CAD drawings.

Early stage planning

Got a self build project or home renovation on your hands? An interior designer can ultimately save you time and money by being a second set of eyes early in the project, helping to catch anything your builder might not have considered.  Get them on board in the early stages of the project, when the architect is finalising drawings, and you’ll have plenty of time to make decisions. Do you have space planned for your curtain poles, are the doors going to open the right way either into or out of the room? What about the correct positioning of lighting fixtures based on your furniture layout? What finishes do you want for your switches and sockets?

Shopping

Once the design scheme is agreed, including colour palette, materials, patterns and overall look and feel, you’ll have a comprehensive plan for your home. We’ll draw up your detailed shopping list and the shopping stage is where I can help you find the best quality items within your budget and with well reputed suppliers. I can save you hours of scrolling for your furniture and accessories, test paint to ensure you choose the right shade, work with suppliers and trades to create bespoke pieces, storage and furniture.

Project management

Finally, I can oversee your trades in a project management role. With regular on site communication with your builders, I ensure your designs are being implemented correctly, taking the time and hassle away from you.
